Sooner or later everything comes back, ever notice that? Especially a ne'er do well relative!! Foil beads are no different, my life is devoted to old Italian made foils. I just love 'em. The process that causes the foil to cavitate like that was discovered by accident, just like diamond cutting used on gold jewelry. Believe it or not, I was actually there when that happened. I was in a famous manufacturers shop and they were trying to find a fast way to polish gold charms, it was 1980, other than one by one by hand. One of the technicians was playing around with a diamond wheel and his hand slipped across the face of the charm. Voila!! Diamond cutting was born. These are sold in lots of 12 for $20. Estmated to have been made around 1948-1950. Focal beads if you like.ith a smear (or, if you are from New York, a 'schmear' )of red in them.BDVN2567. Lot of 12 only $20, what a surprise! Measure 20x26x9mm.
Greenish variety, but the red schmear stays. BDVN2568. Lot of 12 only $20, will surprises never cease? Measure 20x26x9mm. I know it is redundant, but if I leave it out those of minimal cranial capacity will surely write to me, and believe it or not, ask me the size!
The breakaway size, Measure 17x21x8mm. I will not even attempt to describe this color combination, that is why we use photos, to spare me that when necessary. And now it is necessary. Sold in lots of 12 for $18. Order Number BDVN2565.
The square version in a peacock variety, Measure 20x20x7mm. Yes, they are square. Sold in lots of 6 for $10 . Made in 1947. Order Number BDVN2569.
Subtle coloring in a 9x13mm barrel bead from Italy, 1950. A smaller one exists somewhere in this catalog, all you need do is find it!! Sold in lots of 12 for $15, buy two lots and pay only thirty dollars! Hey! Don't say it. Order# BDVN5327.
Swirls of red obfuscate the otherwise muted blue coloring of this wonderous bead from Czechoslovakia, 1948. Measures12mm and it is Sold in lots of 12 for $15, buy two lots and pay only thirty dollars! Hey! Don't say it. Order# BDVN5322.
What collection would be complete without a heart in it? Exactly. None. So here is the heart, with lots of red in it as a heart should have. Measure 20x20x7mm. But not square. Notice they have ridges on the surface. I can only surmise that they are there so that they do not slip in the rain. That is my surmise. Order Number BDVN2563.
We have these in three flavors, this one, that one, and t'other one. They are all the same size, 12x6mm (deep) and the same price and they all have a pearlescent finish on them that is not visible in the photo. The color is actually a darker tealish rather than a lighter one. They are all stunning to the live eye however and are sold in lots of 12 for $7.50 .Order Item# BDVN5404.
Here is that one, it is in the brown family, leaning a mite towards the reddish side. Just a mite. On a scale of 1:10, it is a 1. BDVN5406.
Here is t' other one. It is a gorgeous deep blue, dark blue as it were, and is quite regal in its bearing. Something you will have to wait to see in hand to fully understand. Sort of like trying to describe "wet" to someone who has never been fully immersed in water. BDVN5405.
This is another two tone browninsh Chula bead. These beads are lump shaped, not round like the others. These are West German from 1949. They are 7mm and are sold in lots of 12 for $9, take three lots and pay $7.50 per. Order # BDVN783.
Subtle pale yellow button with gold and copper foils inside, have you ever see one with a copper foil? Rare bead from West Germany and made in the 40's some time, not exactly sure when. I had to show these on black because on white they just do not show up the foils properly, bear in mind that they are actually clearer in the glass than they appear here. Some things, like angels, just don't photograph properly. I photographed these against the night sky, what could be blacker than that? Not realizing that all them planets and stars and what not would show..but these look like orbs from elsewhere anyway so they fit right in. Sold in lots of 12 for $15 and they measure 15mmx9mm deep. Order# BDVN5391.
